Microneedling

A powerful tool within The Emma Blakeman Method

When your skin needs more, microneedling can be a remarkably effective way to support real, lasting change.

Microneedling is one of the treatments I use most within my approach to skin health. It’s evidence based, versatile and works with your skin’s own natural processes to stimulate collagen and elastin and improve the overall quality of the skin.

But I don’t believe everyone needs the same treatment, or needs microneedling all the time.

That’s where my experience comes in.

When I assess your skin and understand what you’re trying to achieve, I can determine whether microneedling will add value to your skincare plan, when to introduce it and how best to use it alongside your other treatments and home care.

“Emma really knows her stuff when it comes to skin, she genuinely wants to help and is so knowledgeable that you really trust her. My skin looks so much clearer just after 1 facial and she gave me the best aftercare — can’t wait for my next treatment and to see more results 😍”

Why microneedling?

Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries within the skin, triggering a natural repair response. This encourages the production of collagen and elastin and can help improve the skin’s structure and function over time.

It can be particularly useful for improving the appearance of:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Uneven texture
  • Acne scarring and other scarring
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Uneven pigmentation
  • Loss of firmness
  • Stretch marks

The result is healthier, firmer, smoother and more even looking skin with relatively little downtime compared with some more invasive resurfacing treatments.

My approach

I don’t simply microneedle because you’ve booked microneedling.

Your treatment is tailored according to your skin, your goals and where you are in your skincare journey. Needle depth, treatment intensity and the products used are all considered carefully.

I also combine microneedling with targeted mesotherapy, introducing pharmaceutical grade ingredients chosen to complement your treatment and further support your skin.

A sterile sheet mask is applied afterwards to soothe and support the skin, and I use a high quality professional device and pharmaceutical grade skincare products throughout.

Is it a one off treatment?

Usually, no.

For many clients, microneedling works best as part of a course initially, followed by occasional treatments to maintain and support results. For others, it may be something we introduce periodically as part of a longer term approach to skin health and age management.

There isn’t a set prescription. Your treatment plan is based on your skin and what we’re trying to achieve.

We’ll discuss what’s appropriate for you during your consultation.

And the downtime?

It’s normal for the skin to appear red and feel warm or sensitive afterwards, a little like mild sunburn. This generally settles within 24–48 hours, although this varies depending on your skin and the treatment we’re carrying out.

I’ll give you clear aftercare guidance so you know exactly how to look after your skin while it recovers.
