Female Intimate Waxing

Portrait of Emma Blakeman

Female intimate waxing is where it all began for me, and 20 years later, I still absolutely love it.

Over the years, I’ve developed my own signature approach to intimate waxing: The Emma Blakeman Method.

People travel from near and far to experience it because intimate waxing really doesn’t have to be an ordeal — and it certainly doesn’t have to feel awkward. With thousands of treatments and hundreds of 5-star reviews, my approach is expert, efficient, gentle and, importantly, tailored to you.

I genuinely love the client interaction that comes with intimate waxing. My job is to make you feel completely at ease, keep you chatting if that’s your thing, and get the job done as quickly and thoroughly as possible.

QUALITY MATTERS

I use hot wax for all intimate waxing and only the very best-quality products. No cheap and nasty wax here!

The Emma Blakeman Method combines high quality products with the highest standards of training, experience, hygiene and technique. I’m also trained in the acclaimed Kim Lawless method of female intimate waxing, alongside the techniques I’ve developed throughout my own 20-year career.

You’re in very safe hands.

INTIMATE WAXING

Eucalyptus stems and leaves arranged elegantly against a soft warm neutral background — spa-like and serene
  • Hollywood
All pubic hair is removed from front to back, leaving no hair behind. This includes the bum crack and bum cheeks.
  • French Bikini
Think Hollywood, but with some hair left on the outer labia, extending up towards the pubic mound. The amount left can vary — some people prefer a wider triangle, others a narrow strip. The key difference is that the buttocks and bum crack are still completely hair-free, while some outer labia hair remains.
  • Brazilian
All pubic hair is removed from front to back, with a small strip of hair left on the pubic mound.
  • Extended Bikini
Hair is removed from the crease of the thigh and slightly inside the knicker line at the front and top. The buttocks are not included.
  • Standard Bikini
Hair is removed from the crease of the thigh.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • If you want to trim beforehand, you can — but please don’t trim too short. I’d much rather the hair was slightly longer than too short.
  • If trimming, aim to leave the hair longer than 1 cm.
  • For hygiene reasons, I don’t trim hair as part of the treatment.

AFTERCARE

Your skin has just had a workout, so be kind to it afterwards.

  • Avoid adding heat to the area immediately after your wax.
  • You can shower, but avoid very hot water directly on the skin.
  • Avoid baths immediately after your treatment.
  • Ideally, wear loose, comfortable clothing afterwards.
  • Follow any personalised aftercare advice I give you following your treatment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What do I have to wear for a Hollywood wax?

You’ll need to undress from the waist down, including removing your underwear.

I don’t provide disposable underwear for intimate waxing because, when we’re removing every last hair, underwear generally just gets in the way.

And please don’t be shy! I’ve performed thousands of these treatments over the years. Nothing surprises me.

Can I have a wax when I’m on my period?

Yes, absolutely.

Just wear a tampon or menstrual cup during your appointment.

I’m worried about the pain!

I hear this one a lot.

Most of my regular clients will tell you it really isn’t as bad as they expected. If you’re moving from shaving to waxing, I recommend giving it three waxes, around five weeks apart. Over time, the hair can become weaker and the experience generally gets easier.

Some people choose to take a painkiller around an hour before their appointment, but always make sure this is suitable for you.

My biggest piece of advice? Relax.

So many clients arrive having convinced themselves they’re about to experience absolute torture — and understandably, that makes the whole thing feel worse.

I’ll keep you talking, distract you and get you through it.

In fact, if you’re someone who absolutely does not want to chat to your therapist, you may have come to the wrong place!

Should I trim before my appointment?

You can, but please be careful.

It’s better for the hair to be slightly too long than too short. If you’re trimming, aim to leave it longer than 1 cm.

I don’t trim as part of the treatment for hygiene reasons.

What positions do I have to get into?

This is something lots of people worry about, but there’s no need to.

I’ll guide you through everything and make sure you’re comfortable, while also ensuring I can access the hair properly and keep the skin sufficiently stretched.

Positions vary depending on the treatment, but generally:

  • Hollywood or Brazilian: you’ll lie on your back with the soles of your feet together and your knees apart.
  • To remove the hair at the back, I’ll ask you to bring your knees towards your chest.
  • Sometimes I’ll ask you to roll onto your side.
  • If you’re pregnant and want all the hair removed from your bum, I may ask you to get onto all fours.

If you’re worried about anything, just tell me. I want you to feel comfortable throughout.

Do I really have to remove my pubic hair?

Absolutely not!

It’s completely down to personal preference. Do whatever makes you feel comfortable.

Although, friendly warning… it can be addictive! 😉
