If you are feeling confused about skincare and facial treatments I do not blame you. There are so many mixed messages.
This is how I break it down:
The 3 “Types” of Facial treatment
Before I dive in, If you would like to book a consultation to decide if I am best person to help you with your skin, please do get in touch.
1. Instant Glow (Relaxation “fluffy” Facials)
These facials offer immediate superficial results. They are ideal if you have a big event and want an instant glow. They are also the facial to go for if you fancy a bit of pampering.
These facials tend to be massage focused, often incorporate essential oils, often using pampering aromatherapy/ plant “natural” brands. This category is where you will find derma planing which is all about an immediate surface level results.
This sort of facial should improve dry and dehydrated skin temporarily.
2. Skin Treatment (This is what I offer)
Facials in this category improve the health and visible appearance of the skin for longer. This category will target specific conditions including acne, rosacea, pigmentation, age management. My facial treatments offer accumulative results. You will get instant, visible results and then any subsequent treatments will build upon those results.
These facials may include a combination of technologies within one facial including superficial and medium depth peels, micro needling, mesotherapy, electroporation (non needle mesotherapy), radio frequency, high frequency.
Other technologies in this category (that I do not personally offer) are treatments such as lasers and IPL.
Following on from your treatment with me I will write up a personalised skincare prescription detailing exactly what your skin needs for the results you seek.
We will discuss realistic expectations and possible treatment plan.
3. Injectables
These without a doubt give the most predictable, visible results per treatment.
If you go for botox or fillers you will undoubtable have a tangible result from one treatment.
I fully support the merit of these treatments.
HOWEVER, there are a few questions to ask yourself before having these treatments:
Are you prepared to maintain these treatments when the results wear off in 3-6 months.
What are the cost implications of this maintenance?
How will these treatments augment the face as it ages? For example repeated botox is likely to create weakness in the muscles which could result in drooping over time.
I openly admit to having botox a number of times in the past and I love the results. That being said I do think you need to consider the above.
I personally urge clients to consider facial treatments and skincare first and to minimise the use of injectables.
I hope you have found this useful. Please let me know if you have any questions about this. You are welcome to book a no obligation consultation.
